BACK TO BREWERTON ~ MONDAY, JUNE 9, 2008

We arrived in Syracuse, NY, late in the afternoon.  It was a nice flight, connecting through Charlotte,
NC.  We rented a car and drove to Brewerton, NY.  We checked into the Holiday Inn Express, which
was the closest hotel or motel to the marina where the boat spent the winter.  The boat was not in the
water yet because Phil asked them not to put it in the water until he checked the bottom of the boat.
We drove to the marina and looked at the boat.  It looked good and we were anxious to get it in the
water on Tuesday.  Morning arrived and a storm with high winds was approaching Brewerton, due to
hit mid-day.  The people at Winter Harbor did not want to launch the boat with the possibility of high
winds, so we decided on Wednesday.

It was great to get back on the boat and get unpacked.  We had shipped several boxes to the marina,
so those had to be unpacked, as well.  The boat, inside and out, needed to be cleaned because of
dust from being in storage for many months.  We, also, had grocery shopping to do and a run to Wal-
Mart, of course!   There is a wonderful grocery store, Wegman’s, in Brewerton.  It is like our Whole
Foods and Central Markets.  We had, of course, emptied our refrigerator and freezer before we put the
boat in storage, so there was much to be done.

We really enjoyed our time at Winter Harbor.  Tom, the owner, and Lesley, who works in the office, and
all the staff go out of their way to make your stay there easy and enjoyable.

Saturday evening, Kim at Ess-Kay Yards had us over for dinner with several other boaters who were
staying at Ess-Kay.  We had a great evening, visiting with everyone.  It was nice to back there, where
we had spent so much time last year.  Kim’s father, George, who had owned the marina, passed
away suddenly while we were gone and we missed him.  After dinner, Phil and I took the rental car
back, in preparation for our departure the next morning.
